Practicing/Teaching since:

Although Dawn practiced yoga off and on for years, she did not become a devoted yogi until 2017.  It was the yoga classes at Longevita that got her hooked.  In 2020 she decided to take her yoga experience to the next level and become a yoga teacher.  She is thrilled to be teaching at the studio that inspired her yoga journey.

What to expect in class:

Dawn’s class is energetic, challenging and playful.  She loves to teach yoga to all levels and her classes can be enjoyed by beginners and seasoned yogis.  Creating a welcoming space for all is important to her and she values the connections she makes with each one of her students.  With an invitation to connect to the breath and listen to the body, variations of each pose are offered so every student can determine which shape is best for them.

Get to know Dawn:

Dawn’s life took a significant turn when she received a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis. This life-altering event brought to the forefront the importance of maintaining strength, overall health, and effectively managing stress. In her search for a holistic approach to her well-being, Dawn discovered that yoga was the perfect fit for her.

Yoga, with its combination of physical postures, breath control, and meditation, resonated deeply with Dawn. She recognized that yoga not only provided a means to strengthen her body but also served as a moving meditation that nourished her mind and soul. It became a powerful tool in her journey towards optimum physical health and mental serenity.

Through her continued practice of yoga, Dawn has achieved remarkable results. Physically, yoga has helped her maintain strength, flexibility, and balance. The various yoga postures, or asanas, have been instrumental in improving her overall physical well-being. Additionally, the deliberate focus on breath control during the practice has helped Dawn develop a heightened sense of body awareness and a deeper connection to her own physicality.

Beyond the physical benefits, yoga has played a crucial role in calming Dawn’s mind and managing her stress levels. The meditative aspect of yoga has allowed her to cultivate a sense of inner peace and tranquility, even in the face of the challenges presented by her condition. Through the practice of mindfulness and being fully present in each moment, Dawn has found solace and a respite from the uncertainties that come with living with Multiple Sclerosis.

Yoga has become more than just an exercise routine for Dawn—it has become a way of life. It has provided her with a holistic approach to managing her health and well-being. By integrating yoga into her daily routine, she has embraced a proactive approach to her physical and mental health. The practice has empowered her to take an active role in her own self-care, allowing her to navigate the journey of living with Multiple Sclerosis with strength and resilience.

Dawn’s experience with yoga showcases the transformative power of this ancient practice. It has allowed her to not only strengthen her body but also cultivate a calm and centered mind. Through her dedication to yoga, Dawn has discovered the ability to find balance, peace, and a sense of control amidst the uncertainties that life may bring. Biggest influences:

All Dawn’s yoga teachers, from a strict ashtanga yogi to a gentle yoga therapist have influenced her as a yogi and a yoga teacher, but now she feels her students are her biggest inspiration.

Hobbies when not teaching:

From riding horses to snowboarding to world travel, Dawn keeps her life active and interesting.  Her favorite adventures are experiences she can share with her husband and their two boys.  She also has great appreciation for music and the arts given that she spent her youth training in the theater.
